DAY 1 – Origin – Rio de Janeiro
INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT
Airport
arrival at Rio de Janeiro. The Carioca City with its magical quality offers the
traveler a wide variety of touristic spots and a great number of leisure
activities. Transfer from the airport to the hotel. At night, at 7pm, we will
meet in the hotel/pousada lobby with a guide who will tell us about the tours
available to visit the main attractions of the city. Accommodation.
DAY 2 – Rio de Janeiro (B)
Free day to take an optional excursion. You
will be able to choose between a great variety of activities in Rio de Janeiro,
including a visit to the Christ Corcovado, Maracaná, the National Park of Tijuica,
and the Botanical Garden. There are also optional one-day trips out of the city
such as a visit to Petrópolis, Niteroi or Buzios. Accommodation.
DAY 3 – Rio de Janeiro (B)
After breakfast, you have the possibility to
take the metro to witness the lifestyle of Rio de Janeiro’s cariocas. This
activity includes a guided walking tour in the historical and commercial center
of Rio, highlighting the Cathedral and the Saara neighborhood. After that, you
can make a stop to taste the delicious carioca juice drinks and finish up
having lunch in one of the oldest and most historical restaurants in Brazil. In
the afternoon you will have free time to take part in various optional
activities such as a trip to the Favela Rocinha or a visit to Pao d’Açucar.

DAY 4 – Rio de Janeiro – Manaus (B)
NATIONAL FLIGHT
Transfer to Rio de Janeiro airport
for departure to Manaus airport, the capital of the Brazilian Amazon, and the
central point for all excursions into the Amazon jungle. We will stop at our
accommodation place and from there we can visit the Amazon Theatre, the Market
and the Port of Manaus.
BOAT OPTION
DAY 5 – Manaus – Amazon Expedition (B, L, D)
In the morning, the expedition along
the Amazon River will initiate at the Port of Manaus in a private boat that
will accommodate us for 4 days during the expedition. At the beginning of the
journey we will arrive at the “encontro das aguas”, the place where Rio Negro
and Rio Solimoes meet without mixing. Afterwards we will enter the river in
small boats to fish for piranhas and spot the caimans. Accommodation aboard in
hammocks.
DAY 6 – Amazon Expedition (B, L, D)
During the second day on this Amazon
Expedition we continue along Rio Negro to visit a Paricatuba community where we
will observe the historic ruins, and in the afternoon we will visit an
Acajatuba community to experience the natives’ customs and crafts. We will also
go for a walk to learn the secrets to survive in the Amazon Forest. Later we
travel by canoe to a beach where we will enjoy a moonlight churrasco dinner.

DAY 7 – Amazon Expedition – Manaus (B, L)
On the third day of the expedition, after
having breakfast, we will visit a caboclo village in the ecological reserve of
the Anavilhanas, where we can swim with the pink dolphins that make their home
in the river. We will travel downriver to the Caucho Museum, where we will
learn about the rubber’s historical importance for the region, and after that
we will reach the Port of Manaus. Accommodation.

OPTION
DAY 5 – Manaus – Amazon Lodge (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we will go down the Amazon
River to the Lodge, a hotel located in the Amazon rainforest. We’ll be welcomed
with a natural juice made with fruit from the Amazon region. We’ll have lunch
and in the afternoon we’ll visit a family of "ribeirinhos" (inhabitants
of this region), where they will talk about the use of plants and the process
of making the "Farinha". Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
DAY 6 – Amazon Lodge (B, L, D)
After lunch, we will have a piranha fishing
activity using techniques employed by natives. We’ll end the day going out in
canoes for a "focagem" night to observe the alligators.

DAY 7 – Lodge Amazonas – Manaus (B)
On this third day we visit a community, where
we will discover how they live, their customs and crafts. Then we leave the
Lodge and go back to Manaus. The transfer will end at the hotel in Manaus. Free
afternoon. Accommodation.
DAY 8 – Manaus – Sao Luis de Maranhao (B)
NATIONAL FLIGHT
In the morning, transfer to Manaus airport for
departure to Sao Luis de Maranhao airport, the capital of the state of
Maranhao, and then transfer to the pousada where we will be staying. The
pousada is located in the historic downtown of the city, which was declared an
UNESCO World Heritage Site for its magnificent colonial architecture.
DAY 9 – Sao Luis de Maranhao – Lençois Maranhenses

In the morning, depart for Barreirinhas. Along
the journey we will stop to rest in either Rosario or Morros, until arriving at
Barreirinhas where we will meet a local guide to begin a tour in the Lençois
Maranhenses National Park on a Toyota 4x4. Return to Barreirinhas.

DAY 10 – Lençois Maranhenses – Sao Luis de Maranhao

After having breakfast, we will take a
speedboat up the Preguiças River, passing by the Preguiças APA (environmental
protection area) and the towns of Mandacaru (Farol Preguiças) and Caburé. In
the afternoon, return by road to our accommodation place in Sao Luis de Maranhao.

DAY 11 – Sao Luis de Maranhao – Salvador (B)
NATIONAL FLIGHT
Transfer to Sao Luis de Maranhao airport for
departure to Salvador airport. Salvador is the cradle of the Afro-Brazilian
culture and offers the visitor many popular amusements with its cuisine, music,
enchantment and cheerfulness. From the airport, transfer to the pousada, located
near downtown and known as the Pelourinho. Here we will find the most important
architectural collection of Hispanic-America, and it is also the meeting point
for all the locals. At night, at 7pm, we will meet in the hotel/pousada lobby
with a guide who will tell us about the tours available to visit the main
attractions of the city. Accommodation.
DAY 12 – Salvador (B)
During the morning, you have the option to take
a trip to get to know the Vida Bahiana, the lifestyle of Salvador’s inhabitants.
The optional activity includes a visit to the market of Sao Joaquim and
afterwards a visit to the historic downtown, where it is possible to spot
different places representing the city’s culture and art. In the afternoon you
will have free time to take part in other optional activities, which include a
visit to the Pelourinho from either an African or historical viewpoint.
