The Hiking program in Northern Portugal leads you to visit dreamlike landscapes, exploring the best of natural and cultural heritage of northern Portugal.

We invite you to breathe clean air, drink clear water and experience the smell of the mountains. You go through the rural towns and villages, crossing lines of water through rivers, and taste the flavors of their dishes in restaurants.

In this 8-day tour you will have an experience of total surrender to the discovery and tranquility, and unforgettable hikes that will pass through beautiful places, such as the Camino de Santiago. The National Park Gerês was elected by the Portuguese as the best protected area in 2010 the International Douro, and the Coa Valley Wine Region - a region that was classified as World Heritage by UNESCO in 2001.

Day 1: Welcome to Portugal

Reception, assistance and airport transfers from Porto to Ponte de Lima. Our guide will be waiting at the airport to give you a warm welcome and escort you to the hotel. Accommodation at Ponte de Lima.

Day 2: The Road to Santiago The walk starts from Ponte de Lima and Rubiães (19km). The point of departure is at Largo de Camoes, Ponte de Lima, at 8:30 am. The activity begins at 9 am, after the group presentation, and detailed explanation of the program with the delivery of the map, plus a small booklet with information and safety tips. You will pay visits to notable sites, places and assets covered by the rural ethnography, architecture and landscape of the journey. The route passes through rural and urban landscapes. The trip will have a total length of about 8 hours with a lunch stop. The return will be done on the bus which will be waiting near the Romanesque church of Rubiães. Accommodation at Ponte de Lima.

Day 3: Peneda-Geres National Park This walk begins and ends in Covide. During the journey you will visit the old Castle Hill, which is an old fort (with a view over the dam Caniçada) where, hopefully you can find horses grazing free. You will visit Santa Isabel do Monte, the scenery is fantastic, and once there, you can see the simple lifestyle of the local population. After lunch, which is rather light, you enter the trail Geira, an ancient Roman road linking Bracara Augusta (Braga) to Astorga in Spain. Accommodation at Ponte de Lima.

Day 4: Guimarães and Miranda do Douro
A tour from Ponte de Lima with the destination of the area of the Douro, where it will undergo Guimarães, Vila Real and Régua. In Guimarães you can visit the Historic Centre of Guimarães and Vila Real, visit the Solar de Mateus. Accommodation at Miranda do Douro.

Day 5: The International Douro Meeting point and departure of Miranda do Douro (next to the Tourist Office) at 9am in the morning, the guide always takes you as close to the cliffs of the Douro as possible. You will experience the culture and traditions, with a strong emphasis on agriculture and the possibility of sight, herons, storks, partridges, ducks and a pair of eagles flying through there every day. Also visit a restored old mill, a fortress in ruins and go through the Planalto Miranda. You end the trip with one of the most beautiful and panoramic views of the Parque Natural do Douro Internacional. The trip is 9 km with a degree of low / medium difficulty, not requiring that the bus has to go pick it up to fate. The trip last approximately 5 hours. In all options, there is the possibility to have a snack / picnic or even have a typical meal. Accommodation at Miranda do Douro.

Day 6: Coa Valley Hiking in the Great Route of the Coa Valley, and between Cidadelhe Algodres, passing through the protected area of the private Faia Brava. A linear path (1km), about five hours and a medium difficulty. There is a strong probability of seeing lithophytes birds, ponies and horses. Accommodation at Pinhão.

Day 7: Douro Wine Region The visit to the winery that produces Port is made in the morning. The trip will be accompanied by a person responsible for operating the farm, giving explanations on the region, vineyards, wine production, the varieties and the beautiful scenery around. Accommodation at Pinhão.

Day 8: Porto Returning trip to Porto. Afterwards, and if time permits, you'll visit Porto's historical center, São Bento train station, Cathedral, Palacio da Bolsa, Church of San Francisco, Riverside and Port Wine cellars. The tour begins at Porto City Hall and goes through the most emblematic places in a colorful urban landscape, with many centuries of history. Transportation to the airport in Porto.
